The Story of the Girl Undressing in Public (Written by Jae West)

Courage. Perseverance. Love.

Inspiralight

As I stepped onto the streets of Piccadilly Circus with white board and markers in one hand and blindfold in the other, I couldn’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of vulnerability at what I was about to do. Observing the

Meryl Streep and Her Patience…

Patience is a head thing. Plain and simple. I feel what she is saying – I’d like to agree with her but it seems severe.

I do wonder if she has any patience for herself? Usually when we have such strong feelings for others then that is a feeling we have for ourselves – I wonder if she knows that.

What I’d like to suggest is to make an effort to set boundaries early in life and continuously. Boundaries that will compromise getting a job but not your self-respect. Boundaries that will fortify your convictions but not your heart. Open your heart and love those deeply who don’t know how to respect others but resolve not to be a fool for them. As Ramana Maharshi would tell you, this is all a dance of the mind. Enter each day with a Big Heart and you will not have to guard yourself – love is your way through.

Restless Spirit: A Beautiful Space Waiting for You

Restless Spirit: A Beautiful Space Waiting for You

Come join me on Thursdays for the BEST meditation practice you’ll ever do!

Every Thursday Evening:

6:15pm-6:45pm – Intro to Meditation: If you don’t want to jump head long into a long meditation session, why not come and learn what it’s all about.

These intro sessions are there to let us get to know one another, let you get to know what meditation is all about and give you a little practice so you can acclimatize to sitting and the space (and the teacher/facilitator – that’s me!)

7pm-8/8:30pm – Heart Path Meditation Sessions – These sessions are a gift really. 🙂

You may have some trepidation upon entering the room: What’s it all about? What are we going to do? How’s it going to affect me? (these questions can be answer in the 6:15pm class) – but after the session you feel so good and so refreshed that it is like having come out of a really great sauna or yoga class. The heat of the practice is so revitalizing and warming that stepping outside you’d swear it was Summer!

Come join me! And make Restless Spirit into a community of awesome Spirit-ness.

Please bring your own meditation benches or cushions to sit on if you have them. Thx.

Always love.

There’s a difference between being vulnerable and loving deeply, and giving away your power. In vulnerability, the power is in the one who submits. There’s a lot to be learned from that.

How corporations fool us every time! Why are we so surprised!

How corporations fool us every time! Why are we so surprised!

And no I’m NOT wearing their clothing!

My response to this article:

If you ever looked closely at the corporate culture of this place (can’t even say the name) it was never meant to embrace the “values” of yoga. It was a marketing ploy – as simple as that. And it worked. Why? Because it never really embraced the depth of the “values” of yoga and was a marketing ploy.

Chip wanted to turn it into a cult and it almost happened – only stopped by the constant stream of people leaving the place.

I sold my soul and became an ambassador years ago. What did it get me? Not much – except $1000 worth of clothing which at the time was great because I was poor and couldn’t afford anything let alone at their prices. I’ve stopped wearing their stuff the minute I got a whiff of their cultish corporate tactics.
I worked with them for three years and tried to instill a yoga-sensability to no avail. I was the only one who tried to encourage participants to bring the only “payment” asked of them (on the website) for the Sunday yoga class which was a dry or canned good for the food bank. Only one person would bring anything every week out of sometimes 30+ people. I was appalled. There was no encouragement from the staff and I sometimes got looks. This to me was fostering a selfish, ego-driven, entitled culture of lemons and I wanted no part of it.

So yoga values – what are those anyway? Telling us to “breathe”? “Be Happy”? “Do one thing that scares you”. These are not yoga values. The New Age equivalent of yoga values. You ate it up. That’s why they’re so successful. What a great marketing ploy!

To Chip and the lemons yoga values meant one thing and that was looking good in your expensive enviable yoga gear even if you didn’t do yoga.
